Maynilad water pipe leak leads to flooding, heavy traffic, road closure in Mendiola
A busted major pipe of Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) burst and leaked gallons of water which caused temporary knee-deep flooding, heavy traffic, and road closure of the east-bound lane of Legarda Street in Manila on Wednesday morning, Dec. 13.

The broken water pipe caused heavy traffic as the water reached gutter-deep around 6 a.m. in front of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Student Catholic Center in Barangay 412. Residents reported that a portion of the road was inundated in knee-deep water.
The leak also affected around 6,400 service connections of Maynilad in the area.
The repair activity is currently ongoing, particularly the leak detection, Maynilad said.
It added that there was no more flooding in the area around 9:09 a.m. as they have conducted dewatering activities.
It also added that it provided a lane on the other side of the area for the counterflow of vehicles.
Seven mobile water tankers were deployed by Maynilad to provide water to the affected residents in the area, particularly in barangays 383-384, 388, 390-416, 420, 30-431, 433-435, and 457-461 in Manila.
