Has Sen. Tolentino resigned as Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chief?
Senator Francis Tolentino has allegedly resigned as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
Sources privy to the operations of the panel alleged that Tolentino has already “packed his things” up at the Senate blue ribbon office’s before leaving abroad.
In an brief interview, Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri said the leadership has yet to receive any resignation letter coming from Tolentino.
However, as of press time, Tolentino has yet to respond to the reports. But according to Zubiri, the senator is still abroad and has not responded to any questions regarding his chairmanship of the blue ribbon committee.
Zubiri, however, expressed doubts Tolentino can resign in absence or without formally announcing his decision before the Senate.
Sources also said Senator Alan Peter Cayetano may also replace Tolentino as head of the blue ribbon panel.
Cayetano used to chair the Senate blue ribbon panel during the term of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo or during the 14th Congress.
During this term, he headed the Senate’s investigation into the NBN-ZTE deal. He also continued the then ongoing so-called fertilizer fund scam.
It was also back then when he steered the continuation of the investigation into the cash giving scandal in Malacañang.
