Police Major Nelson Amsiwen Jr., La Castellana police chief, said the infant had an umbilical cord still attached to him when he was found by some children who were harvesting vegetables in the area.
However, Amsiwen said that they could not establish if the baby was born there or if his body was just left in the area.
Amsiwen said the children reported the incident to barangay officials.
The baby was taken to a hospital and was referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for burial.
