Converge may have finally picked up its first win in the Commissioner’s Cup but that couldn’t simply ease the frustrations of the team over the disappointing season so far.

Head coach Aldin Ayo remained hard on himself after the FiberXers opened the conference with six straight losses before finally breaking through with a 103-94 win over the Terrafirma Dyip on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
“Di pa ako nabubunutan ng tinik in a way. It was still 1-6, disappointed pa rin kami, frustrated pa rin kami, masama pa rin pakiramdam namin sa panalong to,” said Ayo after his crew ended the series of defeats.
The frustration was understandable as Converge could have been in a better position in the standings if the team only pulled through in several tight contests early in the conference.
Even with the win against the Dyip, the FiberXers were made to hardly earn it, not getting assured of the victory until a telling 11-2 run in the overtime period.
Ayo also debunked any notions that the team was tanking to get a chance at securing the No.1 pick of the next season’s rookie draft and select amateur star Justine Baltazar.
“That's unfair because malupit yung pinagdadaanan namin,” said Ayo noting that the team has been practicing hard and is deserving to win but just couldn’t get over the hump in the first six games.
“TNT, overtime, Phoenix game-winner. Ginebra may mga nangyayari dun na nagka-cramps. Pinipiga namin and grabe kami mag-practice. These guys deserve to play well and I'm telling the guys that this team deserves to win kasi grabe kami mag ensayo, grabe kami magtrabaho,” he added.
“We are not looking for that,” he stressed.
Clinging to every last bit of hope they have, Ayo vowed that they will never stop improving and continue his young crew.
“We're not going to stop. There's hope we want to continue and we want to continue building this team,” he added.
