695, 000 Manileños receive Christmas boxes from city gov't

Around 695,000 households in Manila received Christmas food boxes from the local government.
On the last day of distribution, Wednesday, Dec. 13, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the city-wide distribution of Christmas gifts and completion of the allowance payouts are part of the city's Christmas theme "May Kalinga, May Ginhawa, May Saya (There's Protection, There's Comfort, There's Fun)."
She also personally spearheaded on Wednesday morning, the start of a separate Christmas gift distribution for senior citizens in the city that will run until Dec. 15.
The city government is expecting about 180,000 senior citizens who will receive the special boxes.
Each box for senior citizens contains a thermo-insulated food container set and a low-sugar wafer roll.
Apart from the Christmas food boxes distribution, the city government is continuously distributing the monthly payout for December to 180,000 senior citizens, 16,204 solo parents, and 33,216 persons with disability (PWDs).
Lacuna-Pangan noted that beginning next year, even PWDs aged 18 and below will be included in the financial assistance program.
