7.4-magnitude Surigao del Sur quake triggers over 5,000 aftershocks
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded 5,151 aftershocks following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on Dec. 2.

The aftershocks have magnitudes ranging from 1.7 to 6.6.
Phivolcs said that as of 12 p.m. on Dec. 13, 1,291 aftershocks had been plotted and 57 had been felt.
Meanwhile, 2,427 aftershocks were recorded from the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked Cagwait, Surigao del Sur on Dec. 4.
The aftershocks have magnitudes 1.3 to 5.8.
Of the recorded aftershocks, Phivolcs said 596 earthquakes were plotted, while 10 were felt.
