Mayor Wes distributes grocery vouchers to Valenzuela City's solo parents
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian on Monday, Dec. 11, led the distribution of incentive grocery vouchers to around 700 solo parents who participated in the city government's "Nanay Teacher+ Parenting Camp" this year.
The vouchers each have P300 which the solo parents can use to buy grocery items at South Supermarket in the city, the local government said.
The distribution was held at the Valenzuela City People's Park Amphitheater.

The Nanay Teacher+ Parenting Camp, which started in the city in 2014, is a program in partnership with the Synergeia Foundation that aims to teach solo parents teaching techniques to their children and to allow them to bond with each other. It was held in different schools and venues in the city this year.
The city government said there are a total of 3,100 beneficiaries of the vouchers. The vouchers of those who were not able to come in the ceremonial distribution will be turned over to the schools in the city.
Gatchalian said that they will continue to implement programs for solo parents and education in the city.
Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja and members of the city council were also present during the event.
Synergeia Foundation works with policy-makers, local leaders, national and local agencies and institutions, communities at the grassroot level, and private sector partners to help transform how they think, organize, facilitate, mobilize and execute change for improved governance, leadership and collective action (according to synergeia.org.ph).
