Envoy celebrates 67th birthday; looks at closer PH-Japan ties

Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko celebrated his 67th birthday by reminiscing on the highlights of his stint in the Philippines.

“As I celebrate my birthday here in the Philippines, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and joy!,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
“Each year has been a new chapter filled with friendship, warmth, and unforgettable moments with the amazing people of this beautiful country. Maraming Salamat po (Thank you very much),” the ambassador added.
Kazuhiko then shared a collage of highlights of his tour of duty, including a picture with a the famous Jollibee mascot.
There was also a photo with a jeepney, as well as with his embassy’s staff.
He showed, too, a photo of himself whipping up something in the kitchen; and eating dried mangoes in front of the massive gundam statue in Japan.
The Japanese ambassador is one of the most active foreign diplomats in pushing for heightened cultural cooperation between Japan and the Philippines, and usually features Filipino foods he finds in Japan.
United States Ambassador to Manila MaryKay Carlson greeted Kazuhiko on X.
“Happy birthday, my friend!,” she wrote.
