Herbosa unveils healthcare plans; Quezon Gov pushes for preventive focus in inclusive effort
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and Quezon Governor Angelina Tan convened a crucial meeting to establish a partnership between the national and local governments for the comprehensive implementation of Universal Health Care.

In the meeting on Dec. 11, Herbosa pledged to create ambulatory facilities featuring dialysis and birthing stations, along with mobile clinics in every province.
It noted that this initiative aims to enhance people's access to diverse health services, bringing medical care closer to communities.
Emphasizing the need to bring doctors and services directly to the people, Herbosa outlined plans to ensure widespread healthcare availability.
Moreover, Tan underscored the importance of well-equipped hospitals with trained personnel and ample funds to prevent the emergence of 'white elephant' facilities — facilities that are underutilized or inefficient.
Additionally, Tan proposed a recalibration of the current cancer program, emphasizing a shift toward a preventive focus rather than a solely curative approach to addressing cancer cases.
DOH said that this collaborative effort between the DOH and local governments signifies a significant step towards a more inclusive and preventive healthcare model.
