Gunman of couple onboard bus falls

CAMP Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga â€“ Police apprehended one of two gunmen in the fatal shooting of a couple onboard a provincial Victory Liner bus in Nueva Ecija last month.

Nueva Ecija police chief Police Col. Richard Caballero identified the suspect as Allan delos Santos.

Police said that Delos Santos is a known gun-for-hire operating in Nueva Ecija and Isabela and has warrants of arrest for statutory rape and sexual assault.

Delos Santos was arrested in Dilasag, Aurora on November 20 and provided crucial information about his participation in the killing of Gloria Atilano and Arman Bautista.

He voluntarily executed an extra-judicial confession with the assistance of his counsel.

In his statement, Delos Santos tagged the son of the female victim as the mastermind of the killing.

On December 11, two counts of murder were filed against Delos Santos and four others before the prosecutor's office in Nueva Ecija.

Police Regional Office-3 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. said that operations are ongoing to capture the remaining suspects.

Police are eyeing family dispute in the killing.

The victims were identified as Gloria Atillano, 60, of Purok 6, Santa Luceana, Cauayan City, Isabela, and Arman Bautista, 55, of Koronadal City, South Cotobato.
