DOH logs 36% increase in weekly Covid-19 cases nationwide
The Department of Health (DOH) observed a 36 percent increase in new Covid-19 cases between Dec. 5 and 11, compared to the previous week's average daily count of 260 cases.

Based on the DOH data as of Dec. 12, 1,821 new Covid-19 cases were reported between Dec. 5 and 11.
This is higher by 36 percent than the average daily cases from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4.
Among the newly reported cases, 13 have been classified as "severe" or "critical."
Meanwhile, the Health department reported 13 deaths, six of which occurred between Nov. 28 and Dec. 11.
A total of 228 severe and critical Covid-19 patients have been admitted to hospitals for treatment nationwide.
The occupancy rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds is 13.6 percent, with 176 of 1,298 beds currently in use.
Furthermore, 16.5 percent of non-ICU Covid-19 beds are occupied, with 1,833 out of 11,111 beds in use.
The DOH urged the public to remain vigilant in light of the ongoing Covid-19 threat, emphasizing the importance of adhering to public health standards.
This includes wearing masks, seeking well-ventilated areas, and immediate isolation if symptomatic under Alert Level 1.
