Prices of construction materials in NCR remain stable in Nov.

Prices of wholesale construction materials in Metro Manila remained unchanged in November, according to a report by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Based on the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) report, PSA said the index remained at 1.7 percent during the month, but lower than the 10.4 percent recorded during the same month a year ago.

This brought the January to November growth to 5.7 percent, higher than the 8.1 percent average recorded in the same period a year ago.

The November reading was also the lowest since September 2020 which recorded a rate of 0.5 percent.

Data showed the highest increases in concrete products and cement, which rose to 1.9 percent from 1.6 percent a month before; plywood at 3.5 percent from 3.4 percent; electrical works at 4.8 percent from 4.7 percent; and plumbing fixtures and accessories or waterworks at 2.5 percent from 2.4 percent.

Yearly drops were recorded in the index of tileworks at 0.1 percent from 0.4 percent while slower annual increases were seen in the indices of hardware at 4.5 percent from 4.9 percent; G.I. sheet at 3.4 percent from 3.5 percent; and painting works at 5.4 percent from 5.5 percent.

The index of fuels and lubricants noted a significant decline to 3.6 percent during the month from 0.7 percent annual decrement in October.

The indices of the rest of the commodity groups either retained their respective annual rates or had zero percent annual rates during the month.

The index of glass and glass remained to have an annual decline of 0.2 percent for the seventh consecutive month.
