Man drowns after colliding with friend in river

BACOLOD CITY – A man drowned after he collided with his friend when they dived into the Malogo River in Barangay Canlusong, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, December 10.

Police identified the victim as Renan Ansiano, 21, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Capt. Markelly Laganipa, E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station deputy chief, said that Ansiano and his friends decided to go swimming after a drinking session in a resort.

However, Ansiano collided with one of them when they jumped together into the river.

A lifeguard rescued Ansiano’s friend while the victim submerged into the river unconscious, Laganipa said.

The lifeguard and rescuers retrieved the victim’s body after a few minutes.
