'Hindi yan hunger strike': Netizens troll Celiz, Badoy over 6-hour 'intermittent fasting'

Netizens are trolling SMNI program anchors Jeffrey "Ka Eric" Celiz and Lorraine Badoy over their ongoing "hunger strike", which based on the details they provided is tantamount to just skipping dinner.

On Dec. 7, the Laban Kasama ang Bayan official X account posted, "Join our nightly Hunger Strike starting at 6 PM until midnight. Let's together peacefully support 'Laban Kasama Ang Bayan' anchors Jeffrey 'Ka Eric' Celiz and Dr. Lorraine Badoy who were unjustly detained in the House of Representatives."

This appeal didn't make sense to X users like Gagged Gaga, who replied, "This is not a hunger strike. Stop fooling people please! Stop peddling lies."

X user Kath called out Celiz and Badoy's hunger strike for what it is, and wrote, "Hindi yan hunger strike, intermittent fasting yan eh (That is not a hunger strike, that is intermittent fasting)."

Thysz agreed and said, "Edi parang nag intermittent fasting lang kayo? Hunger strike dapat di kakain! Ano ba naman klaseng sakripisyo yan, walang ka prinsipyo prinsipyo!"

(So you'll just do intermittent fasting? A hunger strike means no eating! What kind of sacrifice is that, where is the principle?)

Intermittent fasting or IF is a popular weight loss method wherein a person doesn't eat for certain windows of time every day. In the case of the two anchors, they refuse meals from 6 p.m. to midnight, or a period of six hours.

"6hours? Lol. Mas matagal pa intermittent fasting ko hahaha," said X user Airboy.

(Six hours? Lol. My intermittent fasting period is longer.)

"Baka po after 6 diet po yan, iba po ang definition ng hunger strike, lmao!" wrote another X user in Czar Patola.

(A hunger strike has different definition, that's just an after 6 diet.)

Netizen Flippin took Celiz and Badoy for their word and teased them: "Parang ang sarap kumain sa buffet every night ah."

(It seems good to eat at a buffet every night.)

Other netizens replied to Laban Kasama ang Bayan's post with photos of food like a pizza, a plate of steak, donuts, and ice cream.

Laban Kasama Ang Bayan is the title of Celiz and Badoy's program over television network SMNI.

The two were cited in contempt by the Committee on Legislative Franchises last Dec. 5 and ordered detained at the House of Representatives in Batasan, Quezon City.
