Grammy-nominated K-pop idol group BTS members RM and V revealed their buzz cuts for their military enlistment today, Dec. 11.
RM and V will be enlisting at 2 p.m. KST on Dec. 11 as active-duty soldiers at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
There they will undergo basic military training before being assigned to their respective units.

"It was a dream. Shaved head and sunglasses. I wanted to try it someday, and it worked out well,” posted V on Instagram. He also posted a photo of Jungkook with a buzz cut.
V applied to serve in the Special Mission Unit of the Army Capital Defense Command called SDT (Special Duty Team).
According to a Korean news report, the team is an anti-terrorism unit and a military police unit that subdues violent incidents. It has a unique soldier system that carries out counter-terrorism operations, security of key figures, arrest of violent military criminals, and hostage rescue and relief activities.

Meanwhile, RM posted a letter on the Weverse app about his enlistment.
“Well, that day has finally come. I feel like I have so many things to say that have been floating around in my head, but now that I’m here, I can’t get them out of my mouth. I was so happy to be able to live as a member of BTS for the past ten years. I’ve always said this as a habit, but the end is just another beginning,” he said.
He added, “Seokjin and Hoseok had to endure this time first. It must have been much harder than those of us following behind. Seeing them doing so bravely and so well, even though it is late, gives me greater courage.”

RM said, “I believe that this period of 18 months, which may be long or short, will be a period of unfamiliar and new inspiration and learning for all of us.”
After RM and V, BTS’ Jungkook and Jimin will be enlisting in the military on Dec. 12.
Jin, J-Hope and Suga are currently fulfilling their military service. Jin enlisted on Dec. 13, 2022 and will be discharged on June 12, 2024.
J-Hope started his service on April 18 this year and will be discharged on Oct. 17, 2024. Suga enlisted on Sept. 22 this year and will serve for 21 months as a social worker or public duty personnel, an alternative form of military service. He will be discharged on June 21, 2025.
RM and V will be serving for 18 months in the military and both will be discharged on June 10, 2025.
Based on their military service periods, BTS members are on track to reunite in 2025 after finishing their mandatory duties.
