Barangay tanod beats 55-year-old man to death in Pandacan


A 55-year-old man was beaten to death by a barangay tanod (village guard) in Pandacan, Manila on Sunday, Dec. 10.

The Manila Police District (MPD) has yet to disclose the name of the suspect.

According to the police report, the victim, Raynaldo Traballo, was allegedly intoxicated when the suspect confronted him at 5:40 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the witnesses, the victim wanted to tap on an electrical connection illegally but the suspect refused and slapped the victim on his face.

The suspect then chased the victim to punch him.

After repeatedly hitting him on different parts of his body, he fled barefoot to an unknown direction.

Police said the victim was rushed by his brother to the nearest hospital but he was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

MPD launched a manhunt operation to arrest the suspect.
