ILOILO CITY – An estimated 95,500 Ilonggos benefited from the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) of the Marcos administration in Guimbal town, Iloilo province over the weekend.

“With the administration of the President, we are bringing government service closer to the people,” said Iloilo Rep. Janette Loreto-Garin.

The lady lawmaker, her husband Mayor Richard Garin of Miag-ao town, and Rep. James “Jojo” Ang Jr. of Uswag Ilonggo party-list hosted the December 9 to 10 government service caravan with House Speaker Martin Romualdez as main guest.

Over 160 government services were offered by 50 agencies during the two-day one-stop shop event at Guimbal National High School that served mostly residents of the first district composed of the towns of Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao, Tubungan, Igbaras, and San Joaquin.

“This only shows that government service can be action ‘agad’ (immediate action),” Rep. Garin said.

Atty. Shawn Capucion, BPSF national secretariat, said the BPSF fulfills the promise of the Marcos administration to bring government services to those who find it difficult to avail.

Other key officials from Iloilo province, Iloilo City, and Panay Island also graced the event that served as the regional kickoff in Western Visayas.
