Passenger of crashed light plane found dead


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – The passenger of a Piper light plane that crashed in San Mariano, this province, on Bonifacio Day was found dead by rescuers on Sunday morning, December 10.

According to the Incident Management Team (IMT), K9 trackers found the body of the woman 200 meters away from the crash site.

A local radio station reported that “Wheel,” the scent-tracking beagle from the AK9 Mandog Society found the body.

Wheel was accompanied by two other tracker dogs and their six handlers who were part of the search and rescue team that went to the area.

The victim’s remains arrived at the Tactical Operations Group 2 here on Sunday at 2 p.m. on board an Air Force helicopter.

Her body will be brought home to Palanan, Isabela.

Rescuers reached the crash site on Thursday, December 7.

However, Joshua Hapinat, spokesperson of the Incident Management Team (IMT), said that the pilot was found dead.
