DSWD: Over 3K quake-hit individuals still in evacuation centers

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said 3,310 people, or 829 families, are still in evacuation centers following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Surigao del Sur on Dec. 2.
Based on the data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center as of Dec. 9, seven evacuation centers are still open for the earthquake victims.
Meanwhile, 21 families, or 63 individuals, are staying outside evacuation centers, either seeking temporary shelter with friends or relatives.
The DSWD said the powerful earthquake has affected 176,357 families or 704,053 individuals in 381 barangays in Caraga and Davao Region.
So far, the DSWD, local government units, and DSWD partners have provided at least P57 million in humanitarian assistance to affected families.
The DSWD has at least P2.7 billion in resources, including P180 million in standby funds or quick response funds and P2.6 billion in food and non-food stockpiles ready for distribution.
