Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan led the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Caloocan City Commercial Complex on Saturday, Dec. 9, as part of the activities for the Yuletide season.
"Ang pagpapailaw natin sa mga dekorasyon at Christmas tree ngayong araw ay simbolo ng ating pagsusumikap na paliwanagin din ang buhay ng bawat Batang Kankaloo sa Lungsod ng Caloocan (The lighting of the Christmas tree and decorations today is a symbol of our efforts to also enlighten the lives of every Batang Kankaloo in the City of Caloocan)," the mayor told the city residents.
He also urged the city residents to participate in the programs the city government prepared to celebrate the Yuletide season.
"Abangan pa po ninyo ang iba pang mga programa natin ngayong Kapaskuhan hindi lang upang magbigay ng saya sa ating mga kababayan, kasama na rin po ito sa ating mga paraan upang makatulong na ipagdiwang ang Pasko sa ating mga komunidad (Please wait for our other programs this Christmas season thay not only to bring joy to our people, but it is also part of our ways to help celebrate Christmas in our communities)," he added.
"Hiling ko po na sana lahat tayo ay huwag makalimot sa tunay na kahulugan ng Pasko --- ang maging mapagmahal at mapagbigay sa ating mga kapwa, lalo na sa mga tunay na nangangailangan ( I wish that all of you will not forget the true meaning of Christmas - to love and be generous to your fellow people, especially those who are in need)," he added.
The city government said that a bazaar featuring various food products of local businesses was also opened as part of the Christmas celebration.
