Police withheld the name of the victim but he was a Grade 2 pupil and resident of Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City.

Police Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz police chief, said the victim, accompanied by his mother, was playing when he touched the ground lights out of curiousity.

Despi said the lights had a cover and grills for safety but the victim managed to reach the lights and was electrocuted.

The victim was brought to the hospital where he was declared dead, according to Despi.

It was the first time that it happened and the area at the park was temporarily corned to prevent another incident, Despi said.
