San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and Magdiwang, Romblon Mayor Arthur Rey Tansiongco spearheaded the signing ceremony held at the City Hall with the city and provincial government officials.

According to Zamora, the sisterhood agreement has been in the works for a while and has finally been formalized as both local government units (LGUs) aim to share their best practices with one another particularly in the fields of tourism, culture and the arts, social services, public health, and environment protection.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Magdiwang, Romblon in our future endeavors. This is a great opportunity for both LGUs to learn from each other. In the end, our end goal is to keep our constituents happy and keep our promise to them in delivering a ‘Makabagong San Juan,’ and this is one way to do that,” Zamora said.

After the signing ceremony, Zamora gave Tansiongco a tour of the historical landmarks and venues in the city such as the El Deposito Tunnel and Museum, and the Pinaglabanan Shrine containing the monuments of Gat. Andres Bonifacio, Jose Rizal, Emilio Jacinto, and the Spirit of Pinaglabanan, which were all created by master sculptor Eduardo Castrillo.
