Pregnant woman crossing road killed by truck

CEBU CITY – A pregnant woman died after she was run over by a truck on the national highway in Barangay Looc, Danao City, northern Cebu on Thursday night, November 30.

Police identified the victim as Gracel Castro Jayson.

The victim, who was four-months pregnant, was crossing the road on her way home when she was hit by the truck driven by Ruel, 43.

Ruel told Police Staff Sgt. Arzie-hill Biatingo, Danao Police Station investigator, that he did not notice the victim and that the area where the accident happened was dark and this may have prevented him from seeing her.

Ruel did not stop to assist the victim and he was apprehended in the nearby town of Carmen.

Police said that the victim’s baby also died.
