P9-M empty butane canisters seized in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – Empty butane canisters worth P9 million were seized from a warehouse in Barangay Calamba here on November 29.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Units in Camp Crame, Quezon City raided the warehouse based on a search warrant issued by Judge Estela Alma Singco-Caruso of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 12.

The warehouse is owned by Francisco P. Reyes Jr. and Allan Reyes.

Police said the warehouse was monitored due to reports that several butane canisters were kept inside.

The owners had no permits to store butane canisters in the warehouse, police added.

These butane canisters were owned by Botin LPG, Blue Flame, Fiesta Gas, Agila, FMZ LPG Center, Republic Gas Corp., Philcan Refilling Plants Inc., Solid R Cheaper Gas Corp., Peideworth Marketing, Peteon Corp., and JGAS Manu Gas.

At least 20 workers in the warehouse but 19 of them were able to escape when the police arrived.
