NLEX has moved on from temperamental import Thomas Robinson with replacement Stokley Chaffrey Jr. getting his baptism of fire against the undefeated Magnolia in the 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena on Friday, Dec. 1.

Tip-off of the clash is at 8 p.m. with Chaffey and the Road Warriors determined to pull all the stops against the streaking Hotshot and import Tyler Bey.
Serving as a fitting appetizer to the exciting clash is the battle between NorthPort and TNT with both teams looking to get back on the winning track in the 4 p.m. collision.
All eyes should be on Chaffey as he tries to fill in the huge void left by Robinson, who, outside of his antics and his eccentric behavior, was nothing but spectacular for NLEX after averaging 34.5 points and 13.5 rebounds through four games.
The change of import may somehow work wonders, however, for the Road Warriors with Chaffey revealing his talent against the Hotshots and keep their league-leading defense guessing in the contest.
Of course, much is still expected from the likes of Don Trollano, Sean Anthony, Kris Rosales and Matt Nieto who are all tasked to contribute on the offensive end.
Momentum and confidence, however, are surely on the side of Magnolia which is currently riding the crest of its four-game win streak including a morale-boosting 93-91 win over defending champion and archrival Ginebra last time out.
Bey should be at the forefront for Magnolia on both sides of the floor while Paul Lee, Jio Jalalon, Mark Barroca and even Ian Sangalang also expected to provide support.
Meanwhile, NorthPort is looking to put the loss to NLEX behind with a win against TNT. Not only that it would snap a two-game losing slide but also allow the Batang Pier to move forward from the last loss that was marred with an unpleasant altercation between team manager Pido Jarencio and NLEX import in Robinson.
The Batang Pier, however, will be put to a test once more, facing up another NBA caliber of reinforcement in Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who should be determined to lead the Tropang Giga to a win after a sorry 109-95 loss to Meralco.
