Navotas gov't cited for excellent delivery of programs
The Navotas City government was recognized by different groups and agencies in November 2023 for its excellent delivery of services for the city residents, it was announced on Friday, Dec. 1.
The city goverment was cited by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its implementation of "Bidahan" Community-based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).
The Bidahan program, which started in 2016, is a community-based drug rehabilitation program wherein people who use drugs (PWUDs) undergo a series of counseling sessions and routine testing.
The program already produced 944 graduates from 32 batches who underwent the sessions.

The city government was also cited as the Top 2 Local Government Unit by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for its improved nutritional status under the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP).
The SFP is the provision of food (hot meals), in addition to the regular meals, to currently enrolled daycare center children to help improve their nutrition/health, according to the DSWD.
Ms. Karen Rose B. Damsani of the City Social Welfare and Development Office was also hailed as an Outstanding SFP focal person, the city government said.
The city also got the Silver Seal of Protection from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for its compliance to the Republic Act No. 656 (Property Insurance Law) which highlights the importance of insuring government properties for expeditious repair or replacement in case of damage.
The seal aims to recognize local government units for its exemplary dedication, commitment and continued efforts to protect its assets, and build resilience towards a positively safe city.
According to the city government, their establishments are insured so that it can be immediately repaired once damages in the buildings are found.
Navotas also received the Gawad Kalasag (GK) Seal of Excellence for 2023 from the Office of Civil Defense - National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The local government said it was recognized by the national agency as "Beyond Compliant" with the standards established for the functionality of local disaster risk reduction and management councils and offices, as prescribed in Republic Act No. 10121 (Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010).
GK recognizes LGUs that implement disaster risk reduction and management programs that protect high risk communities against extremely hazardous situations and help them become more capable of addressing their vulnerabilities.
“These commendations attest to our dedication to delivering the best services for the benefit of Navoteños. We are grateful and honored that our efforts have been acknowledged. We will continue to use this recognition as inspiration to further improve the programs and services we deliver,” Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.
