Heavy foot traffic in Caloocan-Monumento LRT station sets off Shibuya Crossing vibes

A video that went viral on social media showing heavy foot traffic at the Monumento Crossing in Caloocan City has earned for it the tag as the "Shibuya Crossing" of the Philippines.

The Shibuya Scramble Crossing, often referred to as Shibuya Crossing, is known to be Tokyo's busiest pedestrian intersection.

Located in front of the Shibuya Station Hachiko exit, this crossing halts vehicles from all directions, enabling pedestrians to flood and traverse the entire intersection simultaneously.

Many netizens noticed that the Crossing in Monumento Station in Caloocan City is similar to the Shibuya Crossing, where people walk back and forth from the northern and southern sections.

Monumento Station serves as a hub and interchange for numerous bus and jeepney routes connecting the cities of Manila, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela through Rizal Avenue Extension, Samson Road, and MacArthur Highway.

Additionally, major provincial bus companies, including Victory Liner, First North Luzon Transit, and RJ Express, have their terminals situated directly outside the station's premises.

"Every time I pass on this cross walk that's exactly what my thought is! Lakas maka Japan ang vibes minus the dirty and lubak pavements," a netizen commented.

"Wow, nice naman SM Grand Central crosswalk to Victory mall ("Wow, the SM Grand Central crosswalk going to Victory Mall)," another said.

However, people also narrated their bad experiences while crossing the street.

"Yung tawiran na hindi ka safe kase kundi manyakol ang makaka salubong mo, mandurukot naman. nun nag aaral pa ako natuto ako maging alisto sa kalsada mang gagaling ako malabon dadaan ng letre talamak ang snatcher sangandaan snatcher pa rin pagdating munumento manyakis at snatcher pa rin. Thanks God hindi ako pinabayaan kaya ngayon may anak na ako todo todo pag aalala ko at paghingi pa rin ng gabay para sa kanila. Sana all (is) Safe in God's protection (This crossing is not safe because this is where you encounter sex predators and thieves. When I was still a student, I learned to become alert and cautious while walking on the streets, especially when passing through Malabon, Letre, Sangandaan, and Monumento. Now that I have children of my own, I'm always extremely concerned and still ask for guidance for them. I hope everyone is safe under God's protection)," a netizen stated.
