Pasay LGU holds workshop on importance of play, effective use of manipulative skills

The Pasay City local government conducted a workshop for child development workers as part of the city’s participation in the celebration of “National Children’s Month.”
Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the workshop held last Nov. 10 aimed at teaching the child development workers of Pasay City Day Care Centers on the “importance of play and affective use of manipulative skills.”
Rubiano said the teachers were given seminars on the right use of manipulatives like clay.
The mayor said teacher Marah Estuesta, administrator of Mindbuilders Preschool, a partner of the city government on child development activities, shared the importance of facilitated play and the use of manipulatives (physical tools or teaching) in helping children in their study.
Rubiano said Estueta shared that the use of manipulatives develops focus and concentration of the children, enhance their fine motor skills, and develops their creativity and artistic skills.
She said SQI Group International Corporation marketing manager Vergel Briman, who also attended the seminar, taught the child development workers new techniques on clay art and gave them school items like kids art clay and flexinote pen.
