The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that movie director Paul Soriano has resigned from his post as a presidential adviser to prioritize his personal commitments.

Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said this after Senator Sonny Angara disclosed that Soriano was no longer the Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications during the Senate deliberation for the Office of the President's P10.6-billion budget in 2024.
In a statement on Thursday evening, Nov. 9, Garafil said Soriano resigned from his post. She, however, did not disclose when this took place.
"Presidential Adviser Paul Soriano took a well-deserved break to spend time with his family and newborn daughter," she wrote.
"He has since submitted his resignation to prioritize his personal commitments," she added.
According to Garafil, President Marcos has yet to appoint a new creative communications adviser.
Marcos appointed Soriano, one of his most prominent supporters, to the said post in October last year. He took leave just before Marcos' second State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July this year for "personal reasons."
The award-winning director is the husband of TV host-actress Toni Gonzaga. Both are known supporters of President Marcos.
Soriano directed the President's first SONA and was a consultant for the inaugural setup. Meanwhile, Gonzaga headlined the performances during Marcos' campaign and sang the National Anthem during his inauguration.
In early 2022, Soriano revealed that he is a nephew of First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos.
