President Marcos has named the former Chairman of Century Rural Bank Inc., Rodolfo Del Rosario Jr., the new Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) chairman.

This was bared in a Facebook post by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Based on the said social media post, Del Rosario will likewise serve as a GSIS board of trustees member.

Del Rosario served as the Chairman of Century Rural Bank Inc. from 2006-2023. Before that, he served as Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Treasury and Management Services at Anflo Management and Investment Corporation (ANFLOCOR), the management and investment holding company of the Floirendo Group of Companies.

The new GSIS chair holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and Economics from Richmond University and a Master's in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.

"His expertise in anti-money laundering, corporate governance, risk management, and microfinance contributes significantly to his new role," the PCO said.

In addition to Del Rosario, President Marcos named the former acting Justice Secretary and the first woman Ombudsman, Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez, a member of the GSIS board of trustees.

Gutierrez has a long tenure in government, including being a former anti-graft chief and former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's chief presidential legal counsel.

Meanwhile, President Marcos also named Jocelyn Cabreza and Alan Luga as members of the GSIS board of trustees, representing the sectors of banking, finance, investment, and insurance.

Another newly appointed member of the GSIS board of trustees is Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent Rita Riddle.

The GSIS is a state-run social insurance institution for government workers in the Philippines.
