DOTr chief ranks 3rd among top performing PBBM Cabinet secretaries
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista ranked third among the best performing Cabinet officials under the Marcos administration.
In the job performance rating survey conducted by the RP Mission and Development Foundation Inc.’s (RPMD), Bautista posted an 81 percent rating on the overall job performance conducted last Sept. 20-30.
Bautista shared the same spot with Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
In a statement, Bautista said the result survey will serve as a motivation for him to work further to improve the transport-related services to the people.
“This is a further encouragement to perform better by promoting a safe, efficient and equitable transportation system throughout the country,” said Bautista.
Among the improvements pushed by Bautista is on mass transport that include additional operational trains and better maintenance that later led to an increase in the riding capacity of Light Rail and Metro Rail transport systems.
Currently, the DOTr is working to improve the services of the Philippine National Railways (PNR).
In the air transportation, Bautista also led the aggressive push to improve the On-Time Performance of local and international flights, as manifested during the recent long break over barangay elections and observance of All Saints and All Souls Days.
Bautista is at the forefront of constructing bike lanes across the country, the target is to construct a 2,400-kilometer secured bike lanes before the end of the Marcos administration.
