TACLOBAN CITY – Five persons were killed and 11 were injured in a two-vehicle collision on the national highway in Barangay Guindapunan, Palo, Leyte on Thursday, November 9.

Police identified the victims as Rochielle, Christina, Mario, a 17-year-old female senior high school student, and a 16-year-old male high school student.
The fatalities were family members on board a double cab traveling from Tacloban City to the Iglesia ni Cristo church in Palo.
Seven people were onboard a double cab but only the driver, Dario Biros Daroy, 56, and Dario Idara Daroy, 55, survived.
Initial investigation disclosed that a van with nine passengers traveling in the opposite direction accidentally hit the double cab when it maneuvered to the left while in a horizontal position in the other lane.
Victims were taken to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) here and Leyte Provincial Hospital in Palo.
The 16-year-old male victim was declared dead on arrival at the Leyte Provincial Hospital while Mario was DOA at EVMC.
The three other passengers died while being treated at the hospital.
