Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda said Monday, Oct. 9 that his constituents can always depend on him for help should there be a need for evacuation from Mayon Volcano's wrath.
This, after evacuees from Mayon's restiveness which began months ago were finally sent home.
"Evacuation efforts, including decampment, are the call of local chief executives, in consultation with their disaster risk reduction and management councils. They know best," Salceda said.
"That said, my office is prepared to extend all necessary support should an evacuation become necessary again, given that the situation has not fully normalized," noted the former three-term Albay governor.
"We have also been providing support to economically displaced residents, and will continue to do so," vowed Salceda, who was designated chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means in the 19th Congress.
"Albay has a culture of preparedness, built on our zero-casualty doctrine. We are prepared to do all that is necessary to fulfill this objective," he further said.
