Police arrest man for illegal possession of firearm in QC

Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Payatas Bagong Silangan Station (PS13) arrested a man after he was seen carrying a firearm while walking along a street in Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City, on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Police identified the suspect as Alwyn Basco Loayan, 30, a resident of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City.
Report showed that the suspect was involved in a robbery incident around 10 p.m. at No. 21 Miller St., Filinvest 2, Bagong Silangan, Quezon City on Nov. 5. He was also seen walking along Pilot Drive, Brgy., Commonwealth, Quezon City.
After receiving information about the suspect’s whereabouts, operatives of PS 13 immediately conducted a follow-up operation at 3 a.m. on Nov. 8.
Upon their arrival, police spotted the suspect standing on the side of the street with a handgun tucked in his waist.
The PS 13 operatives approached Loayan and confiscated a caliber .45 Armscor pistol loaded with four live ammunition.
When asked to show documents for his firearm, the suspect was unable to show anything. He was immediately arrested.
Loayan will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, police said.
