PH embassy sends off two Filipino repatriates from West Bank
Two Filipinos from the West Bank left Jordan Wednesday as they were sent off by Philippine Ambassador in Amman Wilfredo Santos, who for a month has been encouraging Filipinos in the Palestinian territory to seek repatriation from the government.
Two female Filipinos from the West Bank were the first batch to be repatriated since an Alert Level 2 or a Restriction Phase was hoisted by the Philippine government in the Palestinian territory following the war that broke out between Israel and Hamas on Oct. 7.

Although separated from Gaza, the West Bank has also been experiencing military attacks from Israel.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Jordan, it made appropriate representations with Jordanian authorities to facilitate the entry of the two Filipinos to the Kingdom. They were able to cross border from the West Bank on Nov. 4.
The two Filipinos received US$700 each from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the embassy said.
On Oct. 8, a day after Gaza-based Hamas attacked Israel, Santos issued a statement, urging Filipinos in the West Bank to prepare for possible repatriation due to ongoing violence in Palestinian territories.
According to the embassy, there are a total of 123 Filipinos in the West Bank. They are composed of 91 Filipinos with Palestinian spouses, nine nuns from different religious congregations and 23 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
