Pasig LGU, Manila Water celebrate Global Handwashing Day
The Pasig City local government partnered with Manila Water and Manila Water Foundation for an early celebration of Global Handwashing Day (GHD) on Monday, Oct. 9.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr., and the city councilors joined the short program to sign the GHD pledge board.

The officials also demonstrated proper hand washing using the faucet stations set up at the City Hall quadrangle.
The event featured a fair with booths showcasing products from innovation partners, and a booth from the Manila Water Pasig City Service Area for inquiries on its wastewater services.
Pasig citizens who joined the event were given gift bags containing hygiene products from PHILUSA Corporation, P&G, Kalinisan Chemicals Corporation, and Unilever.

GHD, annually observed every Oct. 15, advocates for awareness and understanding of the importance of proper handwashing as a way to prevent illnesses.
The Hand Hygiene for All Initiative (HH4A) is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that seek to “accelerate progress towards hand hygiene for all by 2030 and support the most vulnerable communities to protect their health, including but not limited to preventing Covid-19.”
