The Parañaque City government and the Department of Interior and Local Government will conduct mandatory training program for the newly-elected Sangguniang Kabataan officials.
Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez said the mandatory training for the 128 youths who won in the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Max’s restaurant in Sucat Road, Barangay San Antonio at 8:00 a.m. before they assume their post.
He said the training will focus on their role in nation-building and in molding them into becoming better citizens with the values of patriotism, nationalism, and honor.
The mayor explained that under Republic Act 10742, otherwise known as "Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act," winning candidates are required to undergo and successfully complete a mandatory training to be administered by the DILG.
Olivarez emphasized that the training will strengthen and empower the SK as a useful conduit in community development.
It will also tackle the role of the youth in nation-building, mold SK officials into better citizens, and encourage the involvement of the youth in public and civic affairs through the establishment of effective, responsive, and enabling mechanisms in forging youth participation in local governance.
