Newly elected village councilman slain in North Cotabato gun attack
COTABATO CITY (PNA) – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a newly proclaimed village councilman of Antipas town, North Cotabato on Tuesday morning, November 7.

The Antipas Municipal Police, in a report to Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 (Soccsksargen) director, identified the victim as Edmar M. Perero of Barangay Dolores.
“We condemn the shooting incident victimizing Perero,” the Antipas municipal police said in a statement.
The local police appealed to the public to help them identify the perpetrators.
Perero, 54, was on board a tricycle heading to Barangay Magsaysay when his assailants, who were on board a motorbike, opened fire, hitting him in the neck and head.
A manhunt had been launched against the perpetrators.
Police investigators were still trying to determine the motive of the attack.
Perero was the second elected village councilman slain in North Cotabato in the past week.
On November 1, a newly elected village councilman in Midsayap, North Cotabato was also shot dead by a cousin after a heated argument.
Midsayap municipal police chief, Police Lt. Col. John Miridel Calinga, identified the victim as Suharto Antilino, 35, of Poblacion 3. Calinga did not identify the suspect behind Antilino’s murder pending ongoing pursuit operations.
