Pasig City Police Station (CPS) personnel arrested a man carrying a firearm at a Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint on Amang Rodriguez Avenue in Barangay Santolan on Sunday, Oct. 8.
According to the report submitted to Pasig Police chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., the suspect identified as “Jonathan,” a 21-year-old helper, and his companion were flagged down by police at 3 a.m. while they were walking near the checkpoint due to “suspicious behavior.”
Upon conducting a pat-down search, the arresting officer reportedly held the suspect for arrest after seeing a firearm tucked in the suspect’s waist.
Police recovered a 9mm Armscor firearm with a magazine loaded with five ammunition.
The suspect did not present any valid documents supporting his ownership of the firearm.
He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Batas Pambansa (BP) No. 6 in relation to B.P. 881 (Omnibus Election Code).
