The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) have launched Christmas trains intended to spread happiness and comfort among commuters amid holiday season.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette B. Aquino said the program is aimed at deploying choirs in some of the stations to sing Christmas songs for the train riders.

“Sa ating mga Christmas trains, layon namin makapagbigay nang kahit konting saya sa kanilang araw, lalo na sa mga pagod na komyuter habang sila’y pauwi galing sa kanilang trabaho (We hope that our Christmas trains will at least brighten someone's day, especially for weary commuters heading home from work,” said Aquino.

She said the choir consists of MRT-3 and LRT-2 staff members who would travel from station to station every day to extend love and emphasize the concept of giving and sharing.

During the launching, Aquino led the group in distributing candy to some LRT-2 Cubao Station and MRT-3 Ayala Station passengers.

"Sa pamamagitan ng programang ParaTren ang Pasko, maipapadama namin ang diwa ng pagmamahal at kasiyahan ng Pasko. 'Yung Christmas vibes na biyahe ang aginaldo namin sa bawat pasahero (Through the ParaTren ang Pasko program, we can experience the Christmas spirit of love and joy. We are giving each traveler a present with the Christmas vibes journey,” Aquino said.

Aquino also led the group in distributing candy to some LRT-2 Cubao Station and MRT-3 Ayala Station passengers.

Aquino was with Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Hernando Cabrera during the launching. (Trixee Rosel)
