Good job! Doria lauds Palawan cops who assisted fire victim in Brooke's Point
A 62-year old woman received an expected gift from elements of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Palawan Police Provincial Office when she lost her home to a fire in Brooke’s Point, Palawan.
Police Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, said his men immediately provided grocery items and other basic needs to Carmelita Refuerzo after learning of the incident that occurred in Barangay Pangobilian.
"I commend the dedication and commitment of the 1st Palawan PMFC in providing for the needs of the community. This act reminds us all that we are entrusted not only with upholding the law but also with helping others, especially those who are in need,” said Doria.
Based on the report, Refuerzo left her house to attend a meeting in their barrio. An hour later, she received a phone call from a relative informing her that her house was on fire.
She immediately rushed home to save some of her belongings, but unfortunately, she only ended up with a wound on her right cheek.
Aside from grocery items and other basic needs, the 1st PPMFC led by Lt. Col. Klinton Jamorol also donated cash.
Refuerzo expressed gratitude to the policemen for assisting her at a time when she was already depressed due to the tragedy that struck her.
Doria earlier ordered his men in Mimaropa (Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) to also focus on assisting the local residents aside from their law enforcement duties.
He explained that assisting individuals in times of need is also part of the mandate of the police, and is essential in winning the trust and confidence of the people to their police force.
