The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, Oct. 10 said 1,264 new Covid-19 cases were recorded from Oct. 2 to 8, with an average daily count of 181, up 3 percent from the Sept. 25 to Oct. 1 monitoring period.

Based on the DOH data, 12 of the newly reported cases have been classified as "severe” or “critical."
Six fatalities were also confirmed, with one occurring between Sept. 25 and Oct. 8.
DOH also said that 272 severe and critical Covid-19 patients had been admitted to hospitals across the country.
It also noted that 186 ICU beds, or 12.2 percent of the 1,524 designated for Covid-19 patients, were currently occupied.
DOH said 2,296 of the 12,496 non-ICU Covid-19 beds were in use, accounting for 18.4 percent.
It reminded the public not to become complacent in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 threat, emphasizing the importance of adhering to public health standards, such as wearing masks, seeking well-ventilated areas, and immediate isolation if symptomatic.
DOH emphasized the importance of vigilance and strict safety measures in combating the spread of Covid-19 in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, it said approximately 78 million people in the country had received Covid-19 vaccinations, exceeding the target population by 100.44 percent. (Zekinah Elize Espina)
