Not a lot of people know that diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Chile have been going on for 77 years now. It is, in fact, Chile’s longest running diplomatic relationship with an ASEAN country.
This was one of the highlights of the speech by the Republic of Chile Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Alvaro Jara Bucarey, during the embassy’s celebration of Chile’s 213th National Day held at the Fairmont Makati last Sept. 19.
“This is a special year for me, and for Chile and the Philippines,” Bucarey said. “We have established a road map for developing trade and investment instruments, and foster partnerships [...] My pledge now is to work tirelessly to strengthen relations and cooperation [between] Chile and the Philippines for the benefit of our countries and our people.”
The Republic of Chile celebrates its Independence Day every Sept. 18.
