College of St. Benilde head coach Charles Tiu heaped praises on Will Gozum after his spectacular performance against Jose Rizal University which was reminiscent of his outstanding year that earned him the Most Valuable Player award in NCAA Season 98.

The 24-year-old Gozum erupted with 27 points, 15 in the opening quarter alone, to help the Blazers beat fierce rivals Heavy Bombers, 84-81, last Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Aside from scoring, Gozum made it count on the defensive end after blocking Marwin Dionisio's three-point attempt which could have sent the game to overtime.
Tiu lauded the efforts of his graduating player who had a subpar performance in the first round of elimination.
“Today his game was great, I think by far his best game of the season,” Tiu said. "He's finding his groove. Sana magtuloy tuloy."
Tiu also expressed his appreciation to his wards who held their ground in the highly physical game that saw heated exchanges and ejections.
“We played some good basketball, I thought (Joshua) Guiab was excellent today. (JL) Delos Santos played pretty good, they are a good team, we got lucky that we escaped the game with a win,” said Tiu.
Gozum took home the MVP award last season, making him the third CSB player after Sunday Salvacion and Jay Sagad to win the plum. During that splendid year, he averaged 17.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks in 18 elimination games.
CSB is currently sitting at third place with a 9-4 record behind Mapua and Lyceum, who both have 10-3 win-loss cards.
Benilde will next face Lyceum on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m.
