Low-cost airline AirAsia Philippines has reached 90 percent of its target seat sales as of October this year with more Filipinos revving up air travel this holiday season.
In a statement, the airline is expected to surpass its 2022 target by 60 percent, as it recorded an average load factor of 92 percent, indicating positive predictions for growth in sales in the fourth quarter of 2023.
This growth is spurred by large demands for air travel to domestic and international destinations, especially as Filipinos celebrate the Christmas to New Year seasons.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), around 125,000 passengers daily are expected to flock to airports from mid-December this year to early January 2024.
The airline said that over 150,000 passengers have booked flights with AirAsia for travels from Dec. 15 to 31 this year, as of Nov. 6.
“While this is still 50 percent of last year’s booking for the same period, we are confident AirAsia Philippines will surpass this, especially with guests’ renewed hunger for even more travel experiences,” it said.
To entice more passengers to travel, AirAsia launched another “Ready, Set, Go 11.11 sale,” for booking dates from Nov. 6 to 12 and travels within Nov. 6, 2023 to April 30, 2024.
The sale provides one-way base fares for as low as P91 for domestic flights and P511 to P2,911 for international flights.
Travellers can choose from a varied selection of local destinations like Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Cebu and Bohol; all of which offer the P91 minimum base fare; as well as overseas travel to Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong, China; Tokyo and Osaka, Japan; and Seoul, South Korea.
“Historically, guests, especially those traveling in groups such as families and groups of friends, book their flights 30 to 45 days earlier than their target travel dates. AirAsia Philippines is giving our guests more options to plan their year-end flights and activities in advance,” said AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricky Isla.
“Lower ticket prices are also an advantage of booking flights early,” he added.
