
Nine persons under custody (PUCs) escaped from the detention facility of the Manila Police District (MPD) Raxabago Station 1 in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday dawn, Nov. 8.
Police said five of the escapees were already arrested. They were identified as Arnold Olino, MJ Tuazon, Andal Antipuesto, Albert Calayas, and Zimar Adriano.
The four suspects still at large are Jefferson Tumabag, Gian Carlo Rayala, Master Cedric Velasco, and John Joseph Laguna.
According to the initial report, the inmates escaped at around 1:30 a.m., after they broke the steel bars in their jail cell.
MPD dispatched personnel to conduct a manhunt operation that led to the immediate arrest of five inmates.
Raxabago policemen are currently negotiating with the families and contacts of the four PUCs who might help in locating them.
Authorities said six of the nine inmates are facing cases of illegal drugs, while two were charged with illegal possession of firearms and one with robbery.
Meanwhile, MPD chief Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay administratively relieved Lt. Col. Roberto Ape Mupas, Raxabago station commander, from his post to give way for an in-depth investigation on the incident.
