8 families displaced, 6 houses damaged in Tondo fire

Around eight families were displaced, while six houses were damaged in a fire that broke out in a residential area at the corner of Quezon and Chesa Streets in Tondo, Manila on Monday, Oct. 9.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was declared first alarm at 6:27 p.m. and second alarm at 6:34 p.m.
It was put under control at 7:05 p.m. and contained at 7:30 p.m.
The fire immediately spread as the houses were made of light materials.
They said the victims temporarily took shelter at their relatives' houses, while three families evacuated at the barangay hall of 118, Tondo.
The affected families took to social media their requests for donations. They said they have not received help from the city government yet.
No residents were reportedly injured.
Authorities said the cause of the fire is still unknown.
