Manila LGU releases new fare matrix for tri-wheels

The local government of Manila released on Monday, Nov. 6, the new fare matrix that should be followed by all tri-wheels in the city.
 
It said that Ordinance No. 8979, Series of 2022, was approved and signed on Sept. 18 by Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and is already in effect, on the new fare matrix for tricycles, electric tricycles (e-trikes), and pedicabs.

For tricycles and pedicabs, it said that the fare computation per passenger is P16 for the first kilometer and an additional P5 for every succeeding 500 meters.
 
For e-trike, the fare computation per passenger is P20 as a flat rate within its approved route.
 
It added that any violators of the ordinance shall be punished with the following penalties:
 
For the first offense, a fine of P1,000 with the issuance of an Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR) for code 43 of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau's (MTPB) Fines and Penalties and Section 104-C of Ordinance No. 8092, otherwise known as the "Traffic Management Code of the City of Manila" shall be meted. 
 
For the second offense, it said a fine of P1,000 with the issuance of an OVR for code 43 of the MTPB's Fines and Penalties, Section 104-C of Ordinance No. 8092, otherwise known as the "Traffic Management Code of the City of Manila" and a three-day impoundment unit will be enforced.
 
For the third offense, a fine of P1,000 will be meted with the issuance of an OVR for code 43 of the MTPB's Fines and Penalties and Section 104-C of Ordinance No. 8092, otherwise known as the "Traffic Management Code of the City of Manila", and a seven-day impoundment unit.
 
For the fourth offense, or habitual violators, it said that cancellation of permits, accreditations, and franchises would be enforced.
 
The public was advised to report any tri-wheel driver who will overcharge them by getting the details of the tri-wheels, such as the body number, its routes, and the name of the driver, and and giving these to the MTPB Tri-wheel Management Unit (TMU) office or through email to [email protected]
