House Special Committee on West Philippine Sea (WPS) honored on Tuesday morning, Nov. 7 the late Palawan 3rd district Rep. Edward Hagedorn.
Chairman Mandaluyong City lone district Rep. Neptali Gonzales II and the rest of the panel offered a moment of silence for Hagedorn, who was one of their vice chairmen, at the beginning of their hearing.
"Before we begin, I would like to request a moment of silence of our Vice-chairperson, the honorable Palawan Rep. Edward S. Hagedorn, who joined our creator last month," Gonzales said.
"Cong. Ed is a well-known environmental crusader. He is also a very active member of this committee and is very vocal about his stance regarding the protection of the [WPS]," he said.
Discussed during the panel hearing were continued aggressive acts of Chinese vessels within Philippine territorial waters.
Hagedorn passed away on Oct. 3, 2023 due to a lingering illness.
