Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the City Health Office (CHO) conducted a successful vaccination drive on a total of 1,310 senior citizens in the city to protect them from the flu or influenza.
Aguilar said the CHO, under the supervision of Dr. Juliana Gonzalez, conducted flue vaccination on Nov. 4 to 690 senior citizens at SM Center Las Piñas and to 620 seniors at the Robinsons Mall Las Piñas.
She said the vaccination drive is a preemptive action during the flu season and reflects the city's ongoing commitment to public health and its prioritization of the vulnerable populations.
Dr. Gonzales emphasized the importance of the anti-flu vaccination, noting that the flu can have severe implications for the elderly and that vaccination is a key step in preventing illness.
Gonzalez said the event also provided a platform for health education, promoting broader awareness on flu prevention and general health maintenance among seniors.
The CHO also expressed its intention to sustain and expand such health campaigns, aiming to bolster the city's defenses against seasonal illnesses.
Aguilar said the vaccination drive is part of the commitment of the local government's dedication to its senior residents' well-being, and in ensuring Las Piñas remains a model for community health and wellness initiatives.
